Case Study for SOL
Motherwell
Social Enterprise providing support for men and women with learning disabilities to help them live in their own homes and communities.
In 2005, SOL believed their main problem to be staff sickness incurring overtime and additional workloads for other members of the support staff team. The Lean Team analysis led to the blinding realisation that cover per service was costing over £8k per annum. With a small support team, burnout was the problem, not sickness. With over 70 services to provide, this led management freeing-up around £400k of the budget per annum which is now being invested in employing new key staff and providing training.
