Lean Management Thinking Programme

Lean Management Thinking - Project Model

Since 2004, Accelerate has received contracts from Scottish Enterprise to deliver Lean Management Thinking across the geographical network of 11 Regions. This is a six-month programme that delivers tangible productivity improvements to participating manufacturing and service sector companies. Projects are presented to Senior Management and the wider workforce.

Lean Practice

This is a programme targeted at service sector organisations to initiate a culture of Lean within businesses looking to get ahead of the competition. Lean Teams are identified and then work on a ‘live’ project within the business over a 6-month period. Projects are presented to Senior Management and the wider workforce.

Lean Practive Programme

Lean Finance

This 2-day programme has grown from linking our Lean project activity more closely with monitoring and measuring financial performance. Our approach is to look at the value stream from the finance perspective, looking at links between operational costs and breakeven performance alongside management information systems and their ability to identify Lean opportunities and track the financial impact of changes made to working practices. The main aim is to bring together ‘Lean’ with ‘Finance’ to facilitate more effective board-level decision-making.

Team Leader / Supervisor Management Development

Working with Middle managers, this is a 7-month programme with practical work-based activities designed to develop supervisory and junior management skills. This programme develops management skills alongside process improvement skills to provide participants with a development route built upon the experience they gain in undertaking the work-based activities. The programme culminates in individual presentations to their senior managers on activities undertaken & achievements made.

Team Leader Programme

Change Management for Senior Management Teams

This is designed for each company but begins with initial appraisal of the organisation and how it is dealing with its competitive environment. Psychometric testing is often used to help managers understand more about their leadership styles and approaches to managing others. A series of workshops can then be delivered to address the practical problems of translating strategy into meaningful actions and then the motivating and performance management of change projects that involve the wider workforce. We always seek to run this programme alongside a real change project to allow Managers to put new skills into practice. Programmes can vary in duration according to client needs.

In-House Lean Deployment Projects

Developed specifically for individual companies, this project aims to deliver agreed process improvement targets linked to business objectives. Typical projects might be to reducing leadtimes, reducing quality defects or reducing customer complaints, reducing set-ups and changeovers, redefining processes, generating more capacity, improving workplace organisation. Most of these projects involve more than one project area and aim to deliver sustainable change to working practices and behaviours (changing the company culture).
